Economic development in the institute is focussed on increasing the evidence base, practice and professionalism of economic development in New Zealand. It seeks to influence policy through grounded research and engagement in the field. This is done through:
  • Economic development education and professional development programmes
  • Economic development related research and consultancy
  • Postgraduate research
  • Research and information dissemination through conferences, seminars and publications
  • Work in the public interest that furthers the interests of robust and sustainable economies in Auckland and New Zealand
  • Working on and advocating for policy in the public interest
